Daniel K. Bennett, MD
“It is easy to look at an eye and discount the depth and complexity of the visual system as a whole. As a vitreoretinal specialist, I have been afforded the opportunity to manage and heal the most important sense we possess. My fascination with ophthalmology was born in medical school while working at a free clinic in Charlottesville, Virginia. I have since had the privilege of studying the pathophysiology of vision through continued research and academic pursuits, as well as daily interactions with patients and their families.”
Dr. Bennett was born and raised in Burke, Virginia. He completed both his undergraduate and medical school training with honors at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at the Hamilton Eye Institute (University of Tennessee) in Memphis, Tennessee. While in Memphis, Dr. Bennett participated in the education of medical students and helped organize several free clinics and screening programs to help underserved patients obtain routine eye exams and treatment. He completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
“Raleigh and the surrounding areas of North Carolina are home to a widely diverse set of patients with a plethora of retinal and visual conditions. I consider myself extremely fortunate to work in an area I am now happy to call home. My main goal is to provide excellent care to each patient as if they were a member of my own family.”
In his spare time, Dr. Bennett enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He enjoys travel, basketball, biking, golf, kayaking, and almost any other outdoor activity.
“Dr. Bennett was extremely knowledgeable and patient. He took time to listen to my concerns and address my eye condition. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had in a doctor's office.”— NC Retina Patient Review
