Sachin S. Mudvari, MD
“My attraction to ophthalmology began when I was volunteering as a medical student in Asia. I saw the tremendous, relatively quick, positive impact ophthalmology could make on one's vision and overall quality of life.” Dr. Mudvari completed a two-year fellowship in vitreo-retinal disease and surgery at the Rush University Medical Center / Illinois Retina Associates in Chicago. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, where he also served as Chief Resident. He is a graduate of State University of New York – Syracuse medical school and holds a bachelor's degree magna cum laude from Brown University. “Ophthalmology, and in particular retinal surgery, is a unique sub-specialty that combines medicine and microsurgery. Our field is constantly progressing, thus allowing us to provide ever-advancing therapies to our patients.” Dr. Mudvari is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
“My goal is to provide the best possible care to my patients. I've learned this from watching my father, who is an internist. It is a privilege to be a physician and have the rewarding opportunity to improve one’s eye health.” Dr. Mudvari is excited to be in North Carolina, a state he frequently visited as a child. “It is an honor to be part of the North Carolina Retina Associates team. This group of exceptional physicians and dedicated staff provide excellent, compassionate, and state-of-the-art retinal care to our community.”
Dr. Mudvari has a special interest in the improvement of eye care in the developing world and his native Nepal. He regularly travels to the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology in Kathmandu to both learn from and teach ophthalmologists in the advancement of vitreo-retinal eye care in the region.
Dr. Mudvari and his wife have two daughters. They enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, gardening, cooking, and yoga. Languages other than English: Nepali.
“I’m an aged RN, and have worked with and visited hundreds of doctors in my career and pursuit of health. Never have I met an MD I was so impressed with. Dr. Mudvari is knowledgeable, capable, extremely skilled and caring. I’d be thrilled if every doctor were as amazing as he is. I’m so grateful for this perfect human. Thank you, Dr. M!”— NC Retina Patient Review
